--End of Year Grants Will Benefit Military Children Immediately--
ASHBURN, VIRGINIA – DECEMBER 12, 2017—Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund announces the disbursement of $1,510,000 in grants for college scholarships. This latest round of end-of-year grants brings the nonprofit organization’s 2017 grant total to $4,100,000. Founded in 2014, Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund honors service and sacrifice of veterans and military family members through education programs and scholarships. Since its inception, the Fund has awarded $7,500,000 in scholarship grants.
The latest awards include a $760,000 grant to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation for college scholarships for children who have lost a parent in the line of military duty. Grants were also awarded to partner nonprofit organizations including Folds of Honor, Freedom Alliance, and No Greater Sacrifice Foundation to fund scholarships for “Gold Star Children” and children of disabled service men and women.
“Thanks to our many sponsors and donors, we’ve had a very successful fundraising year that culminated in raising over $1,000,000 at our 2nd Atlanta Gala on October 27,” commented Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund President MaryEllen Picciuto. She continued, “Our board of directors is united in the vision to put that funding to work immediately to impact military children who need it now.”
