Our Brilliant Johnny Mac Scholars

Christian is studying mechanical engineering at Ohio State University, a field he chose driven by his passion for building, problem-solving, and hands-on work. Christian aspires to enter the fast-paced world of Formula 1 racing, where he can combine his technical skills and love for high-performance engineering. His commitment to excellence has earned him accolades such as membership in the Junior Latin Honor Society, the National Honor Society, and the Distinguished Student Award.

In 2007, at just one year old, he lost his father, Air Force Captain Cartize Durham, in a Black Hawk helicopter crash in Treviso, Italy.

Alyson majors in elementary education at Lindenwood University in Missouri. Alyson expresses gratitude towards Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund for providing her the opportunity to attend a school she may not have afforded otherwise.

Alyson’s father, Air Force Staff Sergeant Gregory Miller, was injured with severe TBI and PTSD in 2008. Alyson was just four and her younger sister was two years old at the time. SSgt Miller instilled a strong desire in both Alyson and her sister to achieve a higher education, as he was not afforded the same opportunities. His dream is to see both of his children graduate college.

Aidan is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Arizona, where he’s pursuing a major in Physiology and Medical Sciences. Aidan hopes to work in health sciences, with a particular interest in physical therapy.

Aidan’s father, Marine Corps Master Sergeant Richard Boomer, has been battling Advanced Stage IV kidney cancer since 2015. MSgt Boomer’s illness, which requires ongoing chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, is a result of exposure to toxic chemicals during his military service in Afghanistan.
